In New York City on March 8, 1857, female textile workers marched in protest of unfair working conditions and unequal rights for women. It was one of the first organized strikes by working women, during which they called for a shorter work day and decent wages. Also on March 8 1908, women workers in the needle trades marched through New York City’s Lower East Side to protest child labor, sweatshop working conditions, and demand women’s suffrage. Beginning in 1910, March 8 became annually observed as International Women’s Day.
International Men’s Day is November 19 if anyone is curious.
Women are spectacular creatures. Carrying babies, breastfeeding, having periods and so much more.
Today in honor of International Women’s Day, I would like to honor some women who I admire and who inspire me. Including quotes to help empower females of all ages.
Name 1 woman you admire and why down in the comments
The most important woman that inspires me
Of course, this would have to be my mom. As a single mother, she raised 3 kids and a dog. Various toxic boyfriends along the way, she did everything she could for her children.
“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish”
Michelle Obama
Celebrity women I admire
Vanessa Bryant
Wife of NBA superstar (and a hero of mine) Kobe Bryant, Vanessa helped raise 4 kids. With the amount of time and effort Kobe put in for his passion, Vanessa had to raise their children on her own a lot of the time. That is until retirement when Kobe was able to be home more often.
January 26, 2020, Vanessa would go on to lose Kobe and one of her daughters (Gianna) to a helicopter crash. Taking the lives of many more.
I have lost some of my animals and my beloved baby bear, Kobe. It hurts really bad so I can only imagine the pain she has gone through. Her strength to stay strong, raise their other 3 children and fight for justice among the events is inspiring.

Rosa Parks
After refusing to give up her bus seat to a white person in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks’ courageous act in 1955 sparked a turning point in the civil rights movement
Susan B Anthony
The American women’s rights activists played a key role in the women’s suffrage movement. Her involvement led to the 19th amendment, which gives women the right to vote.
[mailerlite_form form_id=0]Maya Angelou
Activist and poet, Maya Angelou, worked alongside civil rights leaders, Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X to assure equality for all.
You may write me down in history
Still I Rise
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.
Ruth Handler
Better known as the creator of the Barbie doll. In hindsight, I also admire Barbie even though she is a fictional doll. Barbie has had a ton of “jobs”, always fashionable and always nice.

Conclusion
International Women’s Day celebrates women for all their glory. Women who inspire, motivate and help change the world for women all around. Celebrate the women whom you admire and who inspire you every day
