Did you hit peak sluggish mode, feeling unmotivated or just plain blah? I have been there a thousand times this year. When all you want to do is stay in bed and not even look at your phone.
Wether your feeling an afternoon slump, weekend slump or just mental breakdown, finding quick and effective ways to boost your mood can be a life saver.
You are not alone in the struggle. Like I said, I struggle with this daily.
That is why today I will be sharing the 6 mood boosting hacks I have found and use that help me.

Hack 1. Cold Shower
Yeah I know this only sounds great when it is the middle of summer. But it is even effective during the cool winter days.
Cold showers help with mood as well as booting metabolism. Which means it helps with weight gain. Don’t believe me, well UCLA has all the facts for you
Try this shower radio as a way to keep you from thinking about the cold shower.
Hack 2. Stretching
A little light stretch is all you need. As we well know, exercise helps with increasing energy and getting fit. But the physical exercise has many valuable mental help.
When stretching our brain releases endorphins which as we know from Legally Blonde, is they make you happy.

Easy stretches include
- Roll your head from side to side
- Stretch your arms all the way up
- Touch your toes
- bring one arm to the other side, hold your elbow for a few seconds. Reverse
Do not forget your Yoga Mat
Hydrate
This hack may just be so effective and known that it doesn’t even have to be on the list but here we are.
Keeping hydrated not only helps your mood but helps your metabolism and circulation along other things.
Remember it is a myth that you need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. You need at least 2 12oz bottles of water a day.
There are so many factors that judge how much water you need that it can be impossible to know.
Main thing is listen to your body and try to have a glass of water or something every 4 hours.
Also make sure you are eating a small snack every few hours
Energy Bar/Drink
Do not come at me. We are talking about life hacks here people.
Hacks– an effective, easy way of doing something
I am not here telling you to have a 4 energy drinks or energy bars a day. No. I am saying if needed to try one.
Of course, consult a doctor before thinking of trying anything.
They make safe protein , energy bars and drinks that you can have.
For example Kind Bars, relatively low in calories and packed with filling fiber and protein.
Gatorade is also known to give electrolytes which can boost energy
There are various options if you read the label, fo a quick Google research, have a limited amount and consult your doctor.
Hack 5 is a Nap
It has been proven that a 20-30 minute nap is as effective as anything on this list.
A midday nap can enhance alertness, mood, memory, and reduce stress.
This is great news for me as I am a huge fan of naps. A Nap advocate one may say 🙂

Hack 6 is Breathing exercises
This is something that has helped me calm down and focus. I actually got it from New York Yankees star Anthony Volpe. I noticed everytime he goes to bat, he will step back and take a deep breath. I also noticed a lot more players do that but I am a Yankees fan. You can see at the 6:48 mark when he comes up
Another hack for breathing is counting down from 10 or even counting up to 10.
